So...the story so far! I have finished the 'Emerson' comic which Bryan DeWitt is writing. That's 4 months or so this has been going on and I can now put it to bed, just in time to enjoy the Christmas holidays too! Here are two of my favourite pages even tough the whole thing is probably the best thing I've drawn ever!

A Message from the Boss....

ok, so it's been a month or so! I've been hard at work on the Emerson comic with Bryan DeWitt writing. There would be something to show if I wasn't prepared to show it here any more cos I thought maybe I'm showing too much too soon....I will, however, post some sneaky peeks soon - kinda like a trailer!

peace.

A painting of John Constantine from DC Vertigo's 'Hellbazer' comic. Its watercolour and acrylic with ink detail for the line work.

I recently read a collection of Hellblazer called Haunted, written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by John Higgins. Constantine is one of my favourite characters and I just want to say for the record that casting Keanu Reeves in the movie was a really duff choice!!

Page 1 of the comic I'm currently working on with Bryan Dewitt on writing duties. No title as yet, more news as the comic book developes!

I'm also still working on my own comic book, 'The Four', based on my short film. I will post it, IN FULL, to a photo section on my Facebook page. Obviously only people who are on my friends list will be able to view it, however, you can send photo album links in emails and such so I shall post a link HERE when it's finished!

Check out the photos below - I took of three of the pages in my portfolio!

Hey everybody in the world!!! Illustrated here is an idea for two of the characters from the comic I was talking about in my earlier post. In the foreground we have Emerson and Raphy in the background.

Well, I said I'd update on Sunday and that's today! Here we go with a pic of Will Eisner's The Spirit I drew which I found the other day and decided to colour!

Enjoy - something else should be coming along later, I'm working on a comic with a chap called Bryan. Nothing else is known about him yet only that he writes a pretty good script godammit! It's funny and witty but a bit ambiguous, it's one of those stories told in many small parts so it probably won't make sense to me until I get to see the whole finished product!

laters.

RIGHT! It's been over a month now and still nothing! So here's a little something I did for school this week. I will be co-running an after-school club about comics and animation and children's book illustration and lots of other great stuff...! It's called StoryBORED? Above is the image sequence I created for the posters.

I've been working on my The Four comic like a mentalist (actually I haven't done anything for yonks) and just caught the creative bug again so it won't be long til that comic comes out! cheers for now!

Update on Sunday.

The Meaning of Life

A request from me pal, Smudge. This is my reponse to her topic 'The Meaning of Life'. I was watching that Doctor Who episode, series 2 of the new version (David Tennant/Billie Piper), where they were on a planet which apparently had the Devil on it!! I switched it around to open up more questions than it actually answers.

Illustration Part2

Stage 2 is colouring my black and white image while my painted background is drying (now see below!)...
...and this is stage 3 of the illustration with the added background, in my silhouette style a tree on a hill - yes it's Lucas Scott off of One Tree Hill!!

Illustration Part1

This is stage one of a project...Stage 2 will be up when I get back home from work! It is a drawing of someone from off of a telly porgram, any guesses??

Free Comic Book Day

So...I went to the comics shop on Saturday morning, a little later than I wanted to, but I picked up some free comics and also bought some too! There were 6 free comics left! There were 10 different issues available that stores HAD to stock and 33 comics that stores could stock if they wanted to...! Oh well. There's always next year!!

Panel 2 Panel

An interesting day today! I started my course on comic book storytelling, 'Panel2Panel', with 9 year 7 and 8, (11, 12, 13 years old) students from Peacehaven Community School where I also work as an Art Technician! No pictures just yet but we did start a comic jam (the kind you can check out on Linoleum Press) and the kids also drew a lot whilst I was talking about comics and they were looking/reading all the examples I brought in to show and use as influence and information! I think they had a real good time and also it was something different for some of them to do in a school environment, with all the other stuff they consider a negative to be dealing with at their age, they can really 'let go' in these classes! I saw some of these guys be themselves more in my class then they have been elsewhere! Real enthusiasm and excitement from them! I'm dead chuffed!!

More soon!

By the way, like I said to the guys on my course, it's Free Comic Book Day on Saturday so make sure you get down to your local comic shop to pick yours up! (buy some too mind you!)

Keep 'em coming folks I'm doing requests at the moment! Also, I'm working the next couple of panels in the Comic Jam on Linoleum Press.

Expect those to go up in the next couple of days and otherwise check out the story so far!!

Paintful

I have been doing more and more painting recently, since I started working in a high school Art Department. I'm working on a new comic series, a surreal comedy starring this narly bloke above.
